The Cuban vice-president, Carlos Lage, has said that the Havana government wants to encourage more foreign investment as a way of helping the country to develop.
Mr Lage, quoted by the Communist Party's newspaper, Granma, said it was necessary to identify business opportunities and promote them.
A government report shows that last year, half the investment came from the European Union, mainly Spain and Italy, followed by Canada and Latin America.
Correspondents say there are no exact figures, but it's believed that Cuba has attracted some two billion dollars in foreign investment and t ventures over the past decade, mainly in the tourism industry. |
