MATANZAS, June 5 (Rodolfo Damián, Cuba Press) An encephalomyelitis epidemic has put 38 children under 10 years of age in the hospital in this western Cuban city.
The children, all from the Pueblo Nuevo and La Playa neighborhoods, have been isolated in two wards, family sources said. Doctors told the families that the epidemic is due to the lack of rain in the region.
Family complained that conditions in the hospital are poor, since it doesnt have running water.
Public health s said the epidemic could spread in the next few days.
