MEXICO CITY -- (AP) -- A Cuban diplomat was shot to death in Mexico City on
Thursday, apparently after resisting an attempt to steal his car, according to
local news media.
The government's Notimex news agency identified the victim as Boris Valek
Lopez, 36.
Local television stations, said the attack occurred shortly after the man
had left the Cuban embassy in the Polanco neighborhood.
Notimex said two men tried to steal his car, which has diplomatic license
plates, and fired when he resisted.
He was taken to the Hospital Espanol, where he was pronounced dead.
The attackers fled. |
