HAVANA, November 13 (Juan Carlos Linares / cubanet.sergipeconectado.com) - The railroad
terminal in Manatí, Las Tunas province, is crumbling due to neglect.
"Due to neglect by the officials in charge, the roof is falling down.
Pieces of tile fall every so often, endangering engers waiting to board a
train," said Juan Téllez, an independent journalist in Las Tunas,
over the telephone.
Téllez said residents and railroad workers have repeatedly solicited
that the building be repaired, but the local government has paid no heed.
In addition, Téllez reported, several homeless persons in the
vicinity have taken shelter in the building, sleeping and relieving themselves
in any available corner and increasing the atmosphere of decrepitude.
