GUANTÁNAMO, July 26 (Juan Carlos Herrera, APLO / cubanet.sergipeconectado.com) -
The Cuban Ministry of the Interior routinely harasses returned rafters in
violation of the migratory accords between the U. S. and Cuba, a dissident here
charged.
Félix Pineda Laurencio, 33, was returned to Cuban authorities in May
in Guantánamo, from where he was taken directly to the provincial prison.
Subsequently, he was tried and sentenced to two years and six months in
jail. It isnt clear under what charges he was tried.
"Jailing this young man constitutes a serious violation of the
migratory accords by the Cuban regime, since those returned should be free to go
home unless they have pending causes, which Pineda didnt have," said
Alberto Martínez, the president of the local Club of Political Prisoners
and Ex-Prisoners.
Also, Leyvis Tellezuelo Duany, and Lauro and Jorge Chibás Andrial,
also returned rafters, are continually harassed by officers of the political
police.
Most recently, agents of the Department of State Security visited the three
on July 10 to threaten them.
