FROM CUBA Cuban dermatologist fired, called "not trustworthy" 4e491g

HAVANA, October 10 (cubanet.sergipeconectado.com) - Dr. Julio Csar Solares, a dermatologist at the premier Hermanos Ameijeiras hospital in Havana, was fired last Monday after being deemed "not trustworthy" by Cuban health authorities.

Solares recently married a Mexican citizen and had been selected to travel to Venezuela as part of a group of Cuban doctors being sent to render medical services in the South American country.

Last Monday, when he arrived at the hospital, Solares was called by the head of the department, who told him he couldn't travel to Venezuela because it was clear he had intentions of not coming back to Cuba. Later, the hospital's director decided that Solares was not trustworthy to travel abroad or even to work in the government's showcase hospital.

Solares is not a member of the Communist party, and some colleagues had reported him as one harboring intentions of leaving the country.
