Another
Cuban activist is "kidnapped" by police 471e1q
HAVANA, October 17 (cubanet.sergipeconectado.com) -
Human rights activist Lzaro Martn
was picked up by police near his home October
15 and driven to a remote spot 20 kilometers
(12 miles) away.
Martn, who is also the son of the
acting president of a dissident organization,
the 24th of February Movement, was on his
way to a public phone when police picked
him up. At the time, a number of dissidents
were holding a vigil at his home in favor
of Leonardo Bruzn, the jailed president
of the movement.
Martn said he scarcely had enough
money to take public transportation back
home after police left him at the junction
of the roads to San Antonio de los Baos
and El Rincn.
Picking up dissidents and leaving them
far from home is a commonly-used measure
by police wanting to harass and intimidate
dissidents.
