FROM CUBA Lights out at the creek 3o4g2

HAVANA, Cuba, October 28 (Reinaldo Cosano Aln / cubanet.sergipeconectado.com) - Residents of the Indalla and La Cuba neighborhoods, outside of Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba province, have been trying to get some light around a creek they must cross to get to the center of the city, to no avail.

The problem, a burnt-out bulb, has been harder to overcome than would appear reasonable.

Local resident Jos Salazar said the electric company at first said they had no bulbs. "Residents pooled together and got the dollars to buy the bulb at the dollar store, but now the power company says they can't install it, because they have no fuel for the truck with the tall ladders."

Salazar said neighbors are concerned because there have been several reports of holdups and drug dealing at the creek.
