Convalescing independent journalist transferred
to another prison 586n71
HAVANA, October 18 (Juan
Carlos Linares Balmaseda / cubanet.sergipeconectado.com)
- Independent journalist Vctor Rolando
Arroyo, recovering from a 24-day hunger
strike, has been transferred to the Cuba
S prison in Holgun province.
Arroyo, serving a 26-year sentence, was
taken from the Guantanamo prison, where
he held the hunger strike, to the Lenin
provincial Hospital in Holgun province
to recover. After less than week there,
he was moved to the Cuba S prison.
Arroyo's wife, Elsa Gonzlez, called
the hospital October 14 and was surprised
to learn that he had been moved to the Cuba
S prison.
Arroyo arrived at the Lenin hospital suffering
weight loss, dehydration, unstable blood
pressure, mental lapses and renal problems.
"Now they're not fulfilling their
obligations, sending him back to prison
when he should be hospitalized," his
wife said.
The Cuba S prison is 600 miles
from Pnar del Ro, where
his family lives.
